Koi Shipping Information
We strongly recommend shipping the koi airport to airport due to the advantages it offers in terms of time and price. Typically, the koi are packed in the morning and promptly transported to the airport. This allows you to have the koi in your pond and enjoy them more quickly.
While we can arrange deliveries UPS overnight, it's important to consider that the koi will be in the shipping box for at least 24 hours. In such cases, King Koi USA will waive the full replacement of the koi in the event of any issues, such as a lost package or late delivery.

Shipping Prices
When choosing UPS Overnight as your shipping option, the shipping prices will be determined during the checkout process. The actual cost of shipping may vary, but as an estimate, shipping from the east coast to the west coast averages around $200 for door-to-door delivery. On the other hand, airport-to-airport shipping typically costs no more than $100 for the same trip. While it requires you to personally pick up the koi at the cargo area near your airport, this method ensures a faster delivery time. Please note you are responsible for shipping cost when picking up your Koi at the airport.
How We Pacakge Our Koi for Shipment
Each koi is carefully packaged to ensure their well-being during transit. First, they are placed in a bag filled with pure oxygen, and then this bag is double-bagged following the traditional Japanese method. The double-bagged koi are then securely placed inside a reinforced shipping box specifically designed for koi transportation. As mentioned before, these boxes are air-freighted to the nearest airport to your location. It's important to note that shipping charges are applied to orders without any additional markup.
Refunds On Koi
To ensure the well-being of your koi, the pond environment plays a crucial role. As this environment is beyond the control of King Koi USA, certain limitations regarding replacements and refunds are necessary. It is important to adhere to the following guidelines:
1. Airport Pickup: All koi must be picked up from the airport within 3 hours of the flight arrival. This timeframe is essential to ensure the smooth transition of the koi to their new home.
2. Timely Confirmation: Upon receiving a shipment of koi at the airport, we require confirmation from you within 5 hours of the flight arrival. This confirmation serves as acknowledgment that you have received your koi and that they are alive. You can easily notify us by email or by calling us at 856-777-6608. Failure to provide this confirmation within the specified time frame will result in the forfeiture of any liabilities or damages.
3. Preferred Shipping Method: As mentioned in the Shipping Section, we strongly recommend airport-to-airport shipping. Under this method, if a koi arrives and is found to be deceased (provided that the shipping box is uncrushed and dry), we will issue a store credit for the full amount paid for the koi, excluding the shipping charges. To process this claim, we will require a photograph of the entire koi with its tail cut off for verification purposes.
Please ensure that you follow these guidelines to facilitate a smooth and satisfactory experience with your koi shipment. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to us.
We understand that it may sound harsh, but it is important for us to address this issue due to the few individuals who may try to take advantage of the situation. Although koi can survive for an extended period in a shipping box, they are still considered perishable. Therefore, if you choose overnight delivery and unfortunately, the package is lost, King Koi USA cannot provide coverage or replacements in such cases. This is precisely why we strongly recommend the airport-to-airport shipping method, as it offers a more secure and reliable means of transportation for the koi.
Upon Arrival
We assure you that your koi will arrive alive and in good condition. In the unfortunate event that a koi perishes within 24 hours of its arrival, we offer a 50% store credit for the fish value. To initiate the credit, we kindly request the following:
1. Water Sample: Please provide a water sample from the pond or quarantine system where the koi was housed. This will assist us in understanding the water conditions and ensuring the best care for our koi.
2. Image of Deceased Koi: Please send us a photograph of the deceased koi with its tail cut off. You can send it either via email or traditional mail.
Please note that the 50% store credit does not cover the shipping cost.

It is strongly recommended to ALWAYS QUARANTINE YOUR NEW KOI. We highly advise providing a covered environment for the first day or two after releasing your new koi, particularly if it is in a holding tank. Koi tend to be skittish and jumpy when placed in unfamiliar surroundings. Please understand that we cannot be held responsible for replacing a koi that has jumped out of its tank.
To facilitate a smooth transition for your new koi, we take additional measures when receiving new shipments. We add Refresh Clay to the water, creating a cloudy environment for the koi's initial days in their new surroundings. This practice has shown positive results in reducing jumping behavior and providing a calming effect for the koi.
